Exhibits / Amenities / Bookstore / Location / Hours /
The visitor center's professionally designed permanent exhibit, "Forrest's Finest Hour," tells the story of the battle, the opposing armies, and the leaders and personalities involved. The centerpiece of the exhibition features a beautifully done battlefield model that uses over 1,500 finely painted miniatures to show the final stages of the battle. Several of the exhibits have interactive features. The visitors center preserves and display a collection of interesting Civil War artifacts, many from the Brice's Crossroads battlefield. In addition to its exhibit gallery, the center also features a media room. Here visitors can see "The Battle of Brice's Crossroads," a 22-minute video program produced especially for the visitor center. The video uses battle reenactment footage, animated maps, photographs and period artwork to bring the June 10, 1864 battle vividly to life. The program also includes appearances and commentary by noted author and historian Shelby Foote.
Two temporary exhibit cases feature items that were metal detected or excavated at the Brice's Crossroads Battlefield. They are on loan to the center by local metal detectors.
The Center also boasts a full array of amenities. Clean, modern restrooms are available, as well as soft drink and snack vending machines. There are even rocking chairs and a back porch swing. The facility is fully wheelchair accessible. A group camp site is available for both day and overnight use by scouts and other organizations. Advance reservations are required, along with payment of a $25 user fee. Contact the visitors’ center to request a reservation packet.
The museum hosts a book store and gift shop where visitors can find an assortment of books, prints, postcards and gift items. National Park Passport holders can even get their passport book stamped.
